Suryabinayak Municipality (Bhaktapur District, Bagmati Province) is a large peri-urban municipality immediately east of Kathmandu. Created in December 2014 by merging several former VDCs (centered on Kautunje), it was later expanded in 2017 to include adjacent areas like Balkot and Dadhikot. Covering about 42.45 km², Suryabinayak is the largest municipality in Bhaktapur district, with a population of roughly 137,900 (2021). The municipality takes its name from the Suryavinayak Temple – a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha – which is an important pilgrimage site in a wooded hilltop area. Its terrain includes steep forested hills and new suburban developments. In addition to religious tourism, Suryabinayak serves as a growing residential area and transportation hub on the valley’s eastern edge.
Our collaboration with Suryabinayak Municipality is driven by a shared vision of building future-ready students. By supporting schools, guiding education offices, and encouraging inter-school competitions, Suryabinayak plays a key role in making education not only accessible but also impactful. Together, we are inspiring students to thrive in knowledge-sharing environments and prepare for success in science, technology, and entrepreneurship.
